As each client will have his/her own therapeutic goal, I will also have a goal for myself. My goal from our initial meeting will be to assist you in feeling comfortable as we navigate through your life. Therapy can be an intimidating process and can bring on a multitude of feelings. I hope to ensure you have a safe environment to explore those feelings, while also gaining insight, and maximizing healthy growth.
Through the assessment phase of therapy (first few weeks), you can expect to find yourself talking about your life experiences, including childhood, which have brought you to the point you are at today. Although this process can feel daunting, it is helpful in knowing how your experiences have shaped your life. Through the therapeutic stage, you can expect to gain a different perspective on life, and discover strategies to help you feel more content and possibly begin to resolve issues. For me, therapy has no solid end. It is my practice to continue seeing my clients for years, in what I like to refer to as “maintenance therapy.” Whether you’d like to meet once a month, once every few months, or once a year…I will continue to open my door to help you should you have the need. It is my hope that we will establish a relationship that will help you feel safe and understood.
